"Big Empty" is a song by the American hard rock band Stone Temple Pilots that first appeared in 1994 on the soundtrack to the Brandon Lee movie The Crow. The song later appeared on the band's second album, Purple, and was released as the lead single from that album. The song was released as a successful single, reaching #3 and #7 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks and Modern Rock Tracks charts, respectively. The song has a similar format to the band’s previous single “Creep”, beginning with a slow, soft acoustic verse that leads into a loud and distorted chorus with a heavy guitar also reminiscent of their #2 rock hit “Plush”.

@mmessiah Wow - I read that early this AM and being an addict in recovery myself this is so on the mark. This song means a lot to me both from the time it came out and my own personal struggles. @mmessiah I really enjoyed your write-up. I think it's spot on honestly, and I also love this song. Unfortunately some of the greatest art comes from the worst suffering. Referring to the constant conversations an addict has with themselves inside their head.

To me this stanza beautifully sums up the multiple conversations an addict has while they are holding drugs/waiting to blast off. It's definitely about drugs, something that weiland struggled severely with and which eventually took this amazing artist from us all.

Her conscience is laden (what has she done? Played around? Shafted her best friend?) Whatever... But it's clear he's hittin' the road... One of the many great STP songs that i love. The Crow was a sweet movie and im glad STP got a chance to add to the pot. The song is full of reflections from them.

Ha ha ha to the previous interpretation... Another "relationship going down the tubes fast" song; there's no conversion, it's just a "big empty"...
